Investor Alert

In October, the first of the 78 million baby boomers filed to receive Social Security benefits. With the nearly 20 trillion dollars that will trade hands in the years to come, it is prime- time for incompetent, unscrupulous financial salesmen to work their way into your good graces. After all, there is 20 trillion dollars available to gain.

While the field of financial planning is filled with many competent and honest advisors; unfortunately there are many advisors that when you look beyond their impressive sounding titles you discover that all they really are are salesmen. Far too many of these salesmen are out to receive a hefty commission at the expense of their clients. So what can you do?

Educate Yourself

While it is important that advisors are held accountable for consumer issues; each individual consumer or investor needs to realize their role in protecting their own investments. Your best defense against an unscrupulous advisor is knowledge! The more financial knowledge you are armed with; the liklihood of you choosing an incompetent financial advisor is greatly decreased. Do not be too quick to hand over your investment dollars. Ask yourself, "Am I confident that I have adequate financial knowledge to make this decision?" Choosing the wrong financial advisor could very well cost you your retirement. A question for thought; how would you feel if you woke up in the morning to discover that your hard-earned retirement dollars were wiped out, and there was something that you could have done to prevent it from happening? Learn all you can about your finances and be aware of the risks involved in making the wrong choices. Remember there is help availible, and you've come to the right place to find it.
